Kawaihae to PTA convoys Tuesday, Wednesday

Oahu-based military units will convoy from Kawaihae Harbor to Pohakuloa Training Area both Tuesday and Wednesday.

The units will be on the roads between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. both days.

The convoys will travel via Kawaihae Road, Queen Kaahumanu Highway, Waikoloa Road, Mamalahoa Highway and Saddle Road.

The convoys will have Hawaii County Police Department escorts front and rear during their trip.

Motorists are advised to be alert and drive with care.

The Pohakuloa Training Area Department of Army police are working closely with local authorities and military units to coordinate this activity in support of unit training.

Seminar on assets protection slated
for Saturday

Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union announces a free educational seminar, “Protecting Assets From Estate and Gift Taxes,” from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at their Kaloko facility’s John Y. Iwane Credit Union Center Training Room.

Presented by estate planning attorneys Sanford and Ethan Okura of Okura & Associates.

The seminar will focus on protecting assets from probate, estate taxes and nursing home costs.

Mauna Kea Quilters
meet Saturday
in Waimea

Mauna Kea Quilters, started in 1997, is a group of patchwork quilters who enjoy sharing their love of quilting with others.

The group donates many quilts to help raise money for worthwhile organizations in the area and has provided quilts to those in need.

Interested quilters are welcome to join the group at its meeting planned from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday in the meeting room of the Thelma Parker Memorial Library.
